Maybe some kids just don't like school? The O is just as good if not better at training future NHL'rs.....it depends on the person.....hopefully this kid made the right move for himself. |

Don't like this decision. I don't like hearing the argument, "He could have got hurt at B.C." That's B.S! He could get hurt ANYWHERE. Milano reneged on a Notre Dame commitment then did the same to B.C. so his character is questioned by some. |

It's not a question about going to school or not, the Ohl will provide more games and it's a more hockey professional environment,Todd nailed it when he said that the goal for Milano is to play in the nhl or Ahl to years down the line, then junior hockey might be a better fit.
That's not to say the college route is also a great option especially Boston College that has an amazing hockey program and produced a lot of good players in the nhl today, but only 35 games a year might not be suited for a rink rat like Mikano. |

He's young....and if he had a change of heart, then BC should be thankful he made his choice now.....it's his career, he should go where he thinks he has the best chance to grow.

It comes down to the players choice.....the CHL is best for some....the college route is best for others. |

90% of the time its better for kids that are near locks to make it. The only real benefit to NCAA for SOME is much fewer games that allow for more off-ice. At the same time many benefit from the tougher, more NHL-like sched |

Difference is; if he gets hurt in Plymouth he was able to sign his contract with CBJ along with that nice little signing bonus that would put him through school anyways. Not saying CHL is best route for everyone but you can't deny it's results. For every pro that benefitted from the college route there are 5 that benefited from CHL |

35 games a year means more practice time, more weight room time, more video room time and time for a young body to develop under a less physically demanding schedule. Not to mention schooling that one will build a foundation for life from that hopefully lasts 60+ more years.
The college route is good for these reasons for some, especially smaller players.
Todd called this a few weeks back and was correct. Now the kid is in the best junior league in the world, and hopefully he took the right path. |

Oh I agree , especially the schooling part , but I'm pretty sure he will have an equal amount of time in the ohl for video and practice time, keep in mind that most of the players time in college is also chewed by courses. |
